Been reading the latest Enigma book (codes & ciphers have always been fascinating to me) and while there are some wonderful stories in it, it isn't really particularly well written (which is a shame) ...

Been struck down with a bad cold etc. for the last week and a bit, missed out on a party, a film premiere and a fun music weekend with friends :-( , I also ran out of aspirin so I asked one of my friends to pick some up for me and he came back with a packet of "Soluble Aspirin" ... but since it was two tablets at a time and four times a day, and there were only 16 tablets in a pack, it meant I was out of "Soluble Aspirin" within 48 hours... so as I headed out to the chemist's shop at 10pm on a Sunday night I started thinking about it, and I reckon I've broken the code and can now solve "insoluble aspirin" as well ... but rather than spoil it for you all, I'll leave it (like Fermat's last theorem) as an exercise for the student. :-)

Speaking of codes and solutions, I'm also most of the way through breaking "the highway code" and I've just got the "zip code" to figure out (the standard five digit zip is easy enough, but the "plus four" requires two extra rotors on my "bombe"!) I've also had a stroke of luck when someone sent me the plugboard solution for my "lite-brite" :-)

I put down this sudden attack of inspiration to playing "4minutes 33seconds" backwards and listening to the hidden messages ...
